For over 16 years, my wife Yumi and I have called Wilsonville our home, and our son Tenzin is a student at the West Linn-Wilsonville public schools.
As an Oregonian for over 36 years, I’ve dedicated myself to serving our community in various roles. As an attorney and small business owner, I’ve advocated and will continue to advocate for government transparency, change, public safety, and inclusivity at the local and state level. I have also volunteered my time for the City and the West Linn-Wilsonville School District.
Community Engagement
Shawn advocates for the community and gives back to Wilsonville:
Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our community, local organizations, government, and homeowner associations.
Championed securing the adoption of City Council Resolution No. 2626, declaring Wilsonville a welcoming and inclusive city. This was one of the early cornerstones in shaping City policy and focus on ensuring that our community is welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Professional Experience
Shawn, a respected attorney with 33 years of experience, serves as the Managing Partner of ONeil Law LLC, a law firm based in Wilsonville.
His legal career is diverse and extensive, encompassing private practice where he represented individuals and businesses, and public service roles such as a Deputy District Attorney, Senior Assistant Attorney General, and later as an Attorney in Charge at the Oregon Department of Justice’s Civil Litigation Section.
During his tenure at the Oregon Department of Justice, Shawn was twice honored with the Excellence in Justice Award and recognized as a Champion for Diversity. He helped train Mexican prosecutors through the National Associations of Attorney Generals so they could enforce the laws in their country.
